The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) Open Day is an annual event that offers prospective students, parents, and teachers the opportunity to explore UKZN’s vibrant campuses and learn more about its diverse academic programmes, admission requirements, student life, and support services from staff and students.

The Open Day is aimed at:

  • High school learners in Grades 10, 11, and 12
  • Parents and guardians
  • Teachers and career counsellors
  • Anyone interested in studying at UKZN

Registration is required to manage attendance numbers and ensure everyone receives the necessary event information. Details on how to register will be shared on UKZN communication platforms. To RSVP, click on the Open day invite found on the STUDY@UKZN website.

UKZN Open Days are offered free of charge.

UKZN Open Days are hosted at the following campuses:

  • Westville campus – 07 March 2026 @ 09h00 – 14h00
  • Pietermaritzburg campus – 14 March 2026 @ 09h00 – 14h00
  • College and programme presentations
  • Opportunities to engage with academic staff and students
  • Information on admissions, funding, and residences
  • Guidance on the various student support services available including, financial aid, housing, student counselling, etc.
  • An opportunity to experience campus life through facilitated interactions and exhibitions

While applications to study at UKZN cannot be submitted on the day, guidance on how to apply will be available. Staff from the Central Applications Office will be present to assist with any questions and provide support on the online application process.

UKZN applications open annually from 1 March to 30 September, with the exception of Medicine, which closes on 30 June.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend to gain a better understanding of the programmes UKZN has to offer, including fees, funding opportunities, and student support services.

Wear comfortable shoes and clothing to navigate UKZN’s campuses with ease and bring your desire to learn more about what the University has to offer.

UKZN does not provide accommodation or ransportation for Open Day attendees. Parents, guardians, teachers and learners are encouraged to make their own travel arrangements

Schools are welcome to attend as groups. Teachers responsible for coordinating the visit must RSVP using the link provided in the invite found on the STUDY@UKZN website.
